Let's continue to practice illustrating.
Can you:
Use Shapebuilder to add and subtract?
Use Pathfinder to divide shapes?
Use the Join option (right click)
Use Rotate tool and Ctrl D to duplicate?
Use the brush tool on the tablet to draw by hand?
Make strokes thicker? Change the stroke color to white or black?
Make a Peace symbol?
Make an Heart?
Today we are going to work toward you creating your own ICON or SYMBOL.
What is that? Let's find examples and definitions for your notes.
ICON:
a sign (such as a word or graphic symbol) whose form suggests its meaning
SYMBOL: something that stands for or suggests something else by reason of relationship, association, convention, or accidental resemblance; especially : a visible sign of something invisible the lion is a
symbol of courage
Your challenge is to create a vector ICON or SYMBOL of your choice.
It has to mean something.
Here are your choices:
1. Create a symbol or icon that represents something MEANINGFUL to you
(family, writing poetry, team)
2. Create a symbol or icon that represents something you want to see CHANGE in the world
(care for the environment, social justice, safety issues)
Ultimately, we will create an design that includes your symbol or icon overlayed on a photograph that you will take next week.
How do you make these??
1. Combining Shapes (shapebuilder tool)
2. Dividing shapes (Pathfinder tool)
3. Drawing shapes (tablet and brush tool)
