Friday April 28 : Prep your 4x5

1st hour ends 7:57
3rd hour ends 9:11

Since we have such a short day...here's what you need to do.

1. Choose something to put in our May 4x5 Show.
You can choose anything you want that you have made, but it has to fit in a 4x5 or 5x4" space.
Open Adobe Illustrator. Create a new file that is 4x5".
File/Place your work onto the space. Size it or rearrange it to fit in the space.
Print it to the HPM 750 printer and give to me.

*If your work is from a photograph, you might want me to print it for you at Sams Club. If that is the case, follow the above directions but don't print.

File/Save for Web and set it to the Maximum JPG options.
Add that JPG file to THIS folder and I will print for you this weekend.

2. Done? Continue to work on your Profile Mask piece. We can finish that up on Monday.

Thursday April 20 : Moment Collages

Target: I feel confident creating designs in Adobe Illustrator.
Target: I honestly think about the elements and principles of art before/while I am making my art.

Your last task in the Identity Unit is to create a collage using your images and monogram together.
You will create at least TWO for your portfolio check at Midterm.
They include your monogram.
They include at least three images.
They tell a story about a moment.
The collage is unified aesthetically.
Use a clipping mask at least once.

You need to think about a some things before you create.

CONTEXT (the circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood and assessed)

Which photos will tell what story?

EDITING (do you need to edit any images so they work better together?)

What feel/mood/story are you going for?

UNITY (designing all the elements so they look like they belong together)

Does your story come through and does the design appear as ONE image?

HOW do you create a collage? Two choices.
1. Create in Illustrator. Use an app we have used before to edit images. Build the collage in Illustrator.

2. Edit and build the collage in PicMonkey or BeFunky. Place what you built in Illustrator, add the monogram, use clipping masks and add designs.

Designing the new Instagram logo

Your classmates are your "test" audience and give you feedback on which design is the most successful in their opinion!
