Your name is one of those things.
If you were a logo, what would you look like?

In your notes, research "personal identity logos"  and "monogram logos". Find samples of each.

Thursday March 9 : Geofilters Techniques and stipulations

Target: I feel confident creating designs in Adobe Illustrator.
For the last two days we have worked through a list of techniques you can use on your Geofilter. Let's finish today with some text techniques.

Target: My work communicates an idea to an audience because I have made good choices with the elements and principles.

Using one of your own pictures (of you in a place or of a place), create a geofilter in Illustrator. It can be a legit filter (and we can actually upload it to Snapchat) or a fake one just for your portfolio.

Expectations:
Design in a 1080x1920 pixel format if you have trouble with
Use text and manipulate it to create interest.
Add decorative elements with shapes, patterns, and/or brushes from demos in class.

To finish- 2 versions needed:
1. Submitted version
File/Save for Web the original design (with no picture) as a PNG and share with me for submission in THIS folder. We will submit tomorrow!!!

2. MockUp
Integrate the design into/over the photograph.
Save the mockup as a JPG and put in your portfolio.

Make as many as you want!!!

Monday March 6 : How to Geofilter

Your goal is to create a Geofilter for a location or event.
Must include typography and some design/graphic element.

This is my geofilter for Lake Redstone, Wisconsin

We will talk about how to:
Build designs with shapes
Use the pen/pencil/brush tool
Use interesting and effective text

You can start to design your geofilter today/tomorrow (I'll be out).

Use THIS template for Illustrator.

Friday March 3rd : Thinking about Geofilters

We are about to finish up the Word Unit. Next week we will complete the Quarter Portfolio Reflection and I will grade your portfolios & conference with you after the 14th.
What is your favorite piece you made during the Word Unit?
1st hour
3rd hour

New work: Snapchat Geofilter

Target: I feel confident creating designs in Adobe Illustrator.
Target: My work communicates an idea to an audience because I have made good choices with the elements and principles.

Where do you go where you WISH there was a Geofilter?
Or, where do you frequently go? Someplace that is important to you.

Look up examples of filters you like. Look up examples of Illustrator designs/illustrations.

Eventually we will create a geofilter you can actually submit to Snapchat.

We will:
Create simple images and designs in Illustrator. *shape demo
Create text to include a word (like CGHS or Cary or Chicago) *text demo
MUST have original designs (no logos or trademarked images) *share demo
TRY Illustrator brushes

If you want to actually try to submit yours to Snapchat, we can do that!

We have had several CG VAT students designs approved and in use by Snapchatters... in fact, all Cary & CGHS filters were made by VAT students or former CG Art students.

After we realized there was only one available to Cary... (made by a former CG Art student :)
